Once upon a time (around the end of April 2012), the 1st Forest Row Cub Scouts decided to hold a camp…. They didn’t know it would turn out to be one of the wettest weekends of the year!
However, despite wind, rain and general sogginess, both the Cubs and the leaders enjoyed the camp to the max! We managed an outdoor campfire with songs on the Friday night before the rain really kicked in and then after a filling breakfast on the Saturday, we went on a three hour hike (well done Cubs!) over the Ashdown Forest. We then took part in a range of bushcraft style activities including shelter building, knot tying and fire lighting…. Not as easy as they may sound when it’s pouring with rain!
The Cubs made some wonderful nature collages to show what they had learnt at camp and then we circled up and each Cub explained to the group what they had enjoyed the most about camp and what had been their toughest challenge. Lots of Cubs said the rain had been a real challenge but they all said they enjoyed camp and can’t wait until the next one!
